scoops ready?

First  Saturday in February, you know what that means, right?
ICE CREAM FOR BREAKFAST DAY
Rules here. You can do it. Believe me, it's easier than finding 7.5 hours to sleep.
GZucker0110ofa_2425 No idea if they'll be celebrating at this joint.  No idea if they really are world famous at all but I can vouch for their fine egg & cheese sandwiches.  If you're ever near Howard University on Florida Ave in DC, stop by. The collard greens looked good too.

Knitting & other adventures next post.

We are staying with my friends kids this weekend, maybe we'll give them ice cream for breakfast!

Wait.... I can LEGITIMATELY have ice cream for breakfast???

I am SO there. I even have a special hoarded "limited edition" Haagen Daaz Dark Chocolate in the freezer.

How about Belgian waffles with ice cream and strawberries?

What a great idea. When I was young my dad make breakfast for me and my sister before school. Every once in awhile I'd get a big scoop of ice cream on my oatmeal. Talk about a great surprise!!

Oh man, I was only supposed to have ice cream for breakfast once a year?? I'm so screwed.

Pie for breakfast, that I can handle. Not sure about ice cream. Love the sign, I'll have to ask my sister in DC if she's been there.

Florida Avenue Grill is LEGEND for a good ol' fashioned soul breakfast. Their grits and biscuits rock! Lucky you finding this joint by accident!

It has been ages since I've read a post that makes me this happy! Thank you, thank you, thank you! [she trundles off to get out the ice cream scoop, which is embarrassingly close to the top of the untensils in the drawer]

I just added it to my google calendar for next year. (This year, there was no ice cream in the house (by design - it doesn't last long if I buy it at all! And there was a giant snow storm - so I didn't go out to get any.)
