what i learned today

1109famvar327
#1 If I am out of caffeinated coffee , I must not make a pot of decaf and try to fool myself . It will result in headache and crankiness in the extreme by 2 pm.

# 2 Having the photo editor of a lifestyle magazine I admire asking me to make & send a quickie glimpse inside my home is humbling. Very.

i think your house looks very sweet and charming. I love the fun eclectic feel of it! ( i sooo know what you mean about the coffee bit, though i do not have decaf in the house!) Whenever my mom and i are together we seem to seek out diners, love them, lol even if i cannot eat over half the food in them!

I love your house. And as we all know, shove all the debris in the bedrooms and just close the door. It's all about the main area, the kitchen, and ok...the bathroom. I love that you did not tidy the books in the bookshelf. It shows you actually read, rather than strategically place impressive books for show.

I, too, love the pictures you showed us of your house. It's very creative looking, and I love it when creative people are creative in their spaces. It's one reason I love the magazine Studio by Cloth, Paper, Scissors. You get to see inside creative spaces.

I love your ironwork,um,railing. Do you call it a railing? Whatever you call it, I like it.

I like it! It's certainly less cluttered than my house! One husband, five cats, one small dog (who owns lots of toys, each and everyone necessary and important!). One of the things I remember reading about Frank Lloyd Wright was that he didn't design houses that took people's clutter into account. Would NOT work for me. I have stuff and houses are meant to live in, not perch upon.

Love the colors. Love the iron work. Lovelovelovvvve the stuff that is notclutter. (How'd you do that? At what point does "stuff" become "clutter" vs a "lived in place?" I think its all about balance - and you've got it!)

p.s. My word verification is "artes". Hmmmm... artist/artes; that might explain the "balance."

Gale, you're cool. Your living space certainly seems to reflect you! Sunny, colorful, a little crunchy, a little arty, very chill.

I go away for a couple of days and come back to all this cool stuff. I always wanted to see inside your house! I love that green and that yellow and all your stuff and I'm hoping it took you a good long morning to STYLE it to look so lifestyle-magazine-ish, or one begins to feel inadequate. So you! All it needs is a handknit dishrag on the wall, srsly.

Love the pic of you for CNN Money. You don't LOOK stressed. Must be the socks. And things could always be worse. That "assisted living director"? Doesn't even SHOW her socks.

Your house looks bright, homey, cheerful. Not at all humbling. I think I would be comfortable there, not a house where I would be on edge because everything is so perfect and pristine.
