When knitting a Pompano Tank
Designer Kapur is to thank
It's quick and it's easy
The eyelet border's breezy
And it barely takes more than a hank.
Yup back at you with a limerick* introducing a spotlight on the Pompano Tank from Drop Dead Easy Knits. With bonus give away, thanks to Louet North America.
As I've mentioned here and here, and many times before that, I'm all for knitting on the beach and wearing knits at the beach. Linen is pretty much the perfect fiber for both actions. When Kirsten Kapur designed the Pompano Tank for our book, I was all heck, yeah! It's the kind of piece you can throw on over a bathing suit, over a camisole or as a layer over a shirt. The simple A line shape and scoop neck is exactly my style.
Is it yours, too? Enter our Pompano Tank GIVEAWAY by leaving a comment below, by midnight Sunday August 13th to win 5 skeins of Euroflax Sport in Eggplant (same colorway as our model Katrina is wearing here) and a 24 " size5 US Kollage Needle. Shipping included in US, if winner is from outside US, you have to pay your own shipping (sorry)**
Last September, at the book launch party, I impulsively cast on a Pompano Tank for myself in wool. Although I made a gauge swatch, I (red flag!) didn't check the measurements of the size I chose to knit, against the measurements of my, ummm, body. I know, idiotic...but I was basking in the glow of celebrating the book. Long story short, I adored the knit, it practically flew off the needles in 3 busy weeks, but it doesn't fit me. Totally owning the error--I am considerably shorter than a size L waist to shoulder measurement. Not to mention wider in the hips. It is in my do-overs pile.

**Kollage Needles are square and have super flexible soft cables, and nicely pointy tips. I personally love knitting with them. I hope you'll like them too.

Such a pretty top, and I like the tunic length. It would be fun to knit.
How nice of Louet to choose my favorite color! And yes, it will play well as a "it's going to get hot later" fall or spring sweater.
Hope I win!

Wow, I love Jani's version - what a great idea to knit it in wool. That would make it a wonderful transitional piece! (Not that I don't love the linen version, it is so awesome as well!)
That clever Jani!
Love the tank, love the color.
I would love to be able to wear this on the 2018 Thimble Island Knitting Cruise!
Such a pretty top! Thanks for the giveaway.

Love it!
I would love to make this! Thanks!
Super cute pattern that is definitely going on my to knit list! I love that it is bottom up too as my hips are more than a size bigger than the rest of my top half. Feels like that would make it easy to shape to really fit me.
And seriously What a great color! That eggplant would definitely look great over a black cami and under a nice cardigan to wear it in fall.
I'd love to try out the needles, and also the yarn! Thanks for the giveaway.
I love Euroflax and the pompano tank looks like the perfect summer top
Love this tank and the color of the Euroflax yarn!
Oh, I love the tunic length! I have a long torso, and some tops hit me just at the wrong place.
Love the eyelet border and the beautiful beach pics!
I love the tunic! Very curious about square needles. Do they end up with the same gage as their round counterparts?

Wishing, and hoping I win this! I've lost weight (intentionally) over the last six months and I'd love to celebrate by making this for me! And I'll wear it to Rhinebeck, even if I have to layer (highly likely to need layers)! Thank you!
Knitting this in blue right now, but would love to knit a second in the "original" color!
What a great giveaway--and I love the color!

Thank you for this opportunity to to win a fantastic fiber Euroflax and wonderful needles. This Pompano pattern looks so lucious
I'm a huge fan of Euroflax and have made a lot of shawls, tops and accessories using it. It works great here in the hot/humid state of Georgia as well as when we go to visit family back in Florida. Eggplant has been one of my favorite colors since it was introduced.
I love this tank and Euroflax! What a great contest. Thanks for the chance to win.
Absolutely gorgeous! What a wonderful prize!
I have my own copy Drop Dead Easy Knits
I cast on a Pompano Tank, after receiving my copy. I made a huge mistake on the back, and failed to rip back and continue to knit.
I would LOVE a do over, working in the same yarn and color way
in order to take mine out of a time out project bag and complete it as well.
Love this tank and the color of the linen. Thanks to all for the opportunity.

I'm from Canada, but I'd be glad to pay shipping.
Oh, Euroflax linen, oh, joy! Love that stuff. And Pompano is lovely, too. Thanks for giving us all some inspiration!
Though I love knitting things at the beach
The Louet yarn is out of my reach

And thank Gale and Kirsten once, each.

I drool over this top every time I see it. I suppose I really should cast on . . .

When I acquired the book I was surprised to see just how many of the patterns I wanted to immediately cast on. This tank was certainly on the list and I'd love to work it in eggplant.
Purple is my color, and I love, love, love linen (living in Florida,it is the best)!
I've never knit linen. This would be fun.
I've made two shawls and started a cardigan with Euroflax. Two of them were in eggplant! The yarn is a little bit of a pain to knit up, but the fabric after a few washes is so soft and comfy! I would love the chance to win more of this yarn!
Nice top. LOve it.
That's a really pretty tank top. When I knit my first tank top (more than a decade ago now), I was still a new enough knitter I didn't realize how it would grow and wore it to work just like a normal shirt. By lunch that damn thing was pinned to the top of my bra to keep it dipping any lower. Obviously I have worn it since, but always over another tank to avoid NSFW wardrobe malfunctions.
(I'm sprite on Ravelry, too, since I don't really want to leave my email address in a public forum.)
That's a beautiful tank! Thanks for hosting the giveaway... time to go add the pattern to my Rav queue!
I love linen tops and that color is a great one for all seasons.
Such a gloriously rich color, and the pattern is so stylish. Thanks for the giveaway. KittenWhiplash on rav.
