local color

Joining in this week's Unraveling before it's too late (or...it may be already).

I can't resist the seasonal colors. Nothing subtle about my choices. This chunky wool mohair single I brought home from New Mexico is just the thing. I'm knitting a Fjodor Hatt. I love the shape and seams.

Sometimes New England looks about as New Englandy as it can . I've been finding as much hiking and doing-stuff-ouitside time as I can. Even when I should be working. Can not resist!

Not exaggerating the color.

Reading: I sped through The Amateur by Chris Bohjalian last week,  I  figured out the plot twist very early in the book, and was kind of disappointed that I was right  when it was finally revealed. It was still well written  and faithful to the late 70's period and entertaining-ish.

Now I am mid way thorugh Partita by Barbara Kingsolver. I'm her fangirl always!

Bella hanging with me after school. I absolutely love seeing the girls do things that  100/100 would have been doing at their age. Whether it's hiding out in what we call "the secret bench" with books and snacks  (its one end of the front porch but when you sit there, noone can see you from the street or from inside the house) or seeing Zoe and her BFF jump onto their e-scoots and zip around town feeling that 14 yo freedom (with the sound of me yelling keeeeep your helmets onnnnnnn ringing through the late afternoon calm).
