This is what it looked like when we strung up a temporary clothesline on Main Street in Babylon NY.
And here is Stephanie, aka Crooked Knits, shooting. Let's play a game. How many handknits can you spy her wearing? The funnest, if I can mangle English here, part of the workshop is usually the part where we bust out of the room and go all hands-on, giving everyone a chance to try some of the
A class so cool they had to cover themselves in wool. It was a blazing good time, in direct contrast to the icy wind blowing off the Atlantic a block away. Afterward, I ended the day knitting and yucking it up at Ann and Katy's yarnshop , my sponsor, The Village Knitter. This is the kind of yarn shop you hunker down in. Big open table to sit at. Great selection of yarn. Super friendly owners and workers. Talented knitters and raucous conversation. We are already planning a spring/summer Photo for Knitters adventure, to take advantage of the lovely photo opps for knitwear in the town, while not suffering frostbite at the same time.
On a not unrelated note--you can't ignore the snow here this week, mostly because we have run out of places to put it.
This is not a special pile or even the tallest on the street, it's just your basic corner. Good weather for knitters though. Suddenly everyone loves a wool mitten.

I'm brewing up a few more workshops between now and the summer- in New Haven CT, Maryland and Massachusetts. Want one at your guild, shop or group? Give me a shout.
Let me know where you end up in Massachusetts -- I'd love to go to a full day workshop.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Lots of hand knits in all the pictures!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures. My knitting friend calls it "being knitterly" when you wear multiple knits. I think I saw a hat, cowl, mittens, and a sweater. I'm sure there were some handknit socks in there, too.... I just couldn't see them. Great post! Hope you survived the storm OK.
ReplyDeleteThanks for teaching such a great workshop Gail! So inspiring for everyone that took it! Looking forward to the next. And crossing my fingers for no heat wave!!! :)
ReplyDeleteKaty
Your workshops look like so much fun! I'd love to see the front of that yellow/gold baby sweater. It is such a beautiful color!
ReplyDeleteHah, i thought that pile of snow was a new way to reflect light for your class!
ReplyDeleteOooh, oooh, oooh! Where in Maryland. I live there.
ReplyDeleteOK the final count was 2 pairs of socks, a Donuts hoodie, Deep Creek Cowl, Dustland Hat, 75 yards of Malabrigo Mitts, and a pair of thrummed mittens. I forgot to put my legwarmers on before leaving home that morning. The baby sweater is Baby Sophisticate (http://www.ravelry.com/projects/crookedknits/baby-sophisticate-2). Photos from the class will come eventually.
ReplyDeleteI was going to guess 7 even thought I didn't think about the socks! I call that the perfect amount of wool for a cold day! All of it gorgeous too.
ReplyDeleteWonderful! I was caught with mittens and a camera at my sister's ranch. My next pair I will put a button hole in one side so my camera finger can pop out to press that button.
ReplyDeleteoh how i am envious of your snow. we've had a record cold winter and snow on the mountains behind us, but not here at the beach. looks like another great workshop!
ReplyDeleteTiny little yellow sweater with blue clothes pins, swoon, too adorable. I want that brown hat in the group photo.
ReplyDeleteFun pictures! I like how everyone is wearing something knit! :) And that little sweater is super cute!
