Taking the day off to enjoy a bigbigbig anniversary with Dave. It's not the endlessly sunny beach day we planned, but we're going to enjoy it anyway.
(I swear, that's not supposed to be a metaphor about marriage. Just a weather report).

Ah but it is, isn't it? There was an old new yorker cartoon with a guy sitting at a bar saying something like, the problem is that you are either married or you're not. Enjoy and celebrate those milestones.

And I really liked the metaphor...
There's a song by the Four Bitchin' Babes about getting on a plane to France and landing in Italy - not what you expected, but wonderful all the same. That's the marriage metaphor for me.
However you describe it, happy day and decades after.
