...will be knit of this"sweater skein" I nabbed at one of the bygone Hopyard Spinnery stuff-a-bag barn sales. A ginormous single skein, 1200 yards, of Farmhouse Yarns . I've been saving this one. Possibly because of the winding task.
I remembered it as a solid deep wine red but taken from it's bigass storage ziplock today , I discovered it both redder with more variation.
Love it. Oh! But what to knit? Maybe this.
p.s. My Emerald is blocking and begging for a button.
In case you're wondering: I am , indeed, a stealth member of the NaKniSweMoDo gang. #2, coming up.
Look at all that snow! Good luck with your winding task.
ReplyDeleteHey, I have a gigantic ball winder (one of the oversize wooden ones). If I'm remembering right, it fits about half of one of those skeins at a time.
ReplyDeleteShould I bring it tonight? You can borrow it, or we can make a spectacle of ourselves at ABP. (Or next week, if it's too snowy?)
Oooo! Glorious reds! Francis would be lovely. Love that cowl neck.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with that NaKniSweMoDo crazyness!
Oh, Oh, OH!!! That is a glorious red. How beautiful!! How rich... How perfect to lift the spirits during the dead of winter.
ReplyDeleteLovely!!
my first thought was my ball winder so would not accomodate that skein!!
ReplyDeletelove the red though and that sweater would look hot in that red colorway.
*le sigh love that green! That was your salvaged yarn from the wip, yes?
The yarn will make up beautifully into Francis!
ReplyDeletePromise me that you will knit a test swatch and WASH IT! Her reds have been known to bleed. :(
ReplyDeleteI love Francis. Love it!
Ooh, I think Francis looks scrumptious.
ReplyDeleteLove that color!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the winding.
You wild knittah, you. A sweater a month? That is gorgeous yarn, though. I just bought-- at a huge discount -- 6 skeins of plum 13 mile, that is rather reddish. Thirteen Mile is the new favorite yarn at the Yarnery.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Sunflowerfairy (that's a name?)...knit a swatch first and then wash it. I'll bet some of the dye comes out of the yarn. That rich burgundy color just might end up being slightly pinky. Whatever, the cowl-necked sweater pattern looks great! Go for it!
ReplyDeleteLove the yarn, but also love the way you composed the top picture. The blue and red and deep red, then the pale cream background. I thought it was great.
ReplyDeleteCan we see Emerald modeled when you have your button? It's such a great color.
OOo, Francis is very stylin' and would great in that red.
