consider yourself warned
You know how when you first started blogging, you were excited about having all these people, more like pretend people because no on actually knew about your blog, to talk to about knitting? Then it dawned that you were not getting much knitting done anymore because you were blogging about knitting? Or reading blogs about knitting? Or thinking about blogging about knitting?
OK, now take that and supersize it geometrically when you get on Ravelry. oh. my. I lost last week. I can't stop clicking onto that site, there is something so gratifying about logging in projects and queuing up a wish list. Nerdy, but gratifying. Not to mention peeking in on all the groups. Is there a group for people who lurk about on knitting subculture groups they don't belong in? Oh, wait, let me just click over there and check....
ps. my Ravelry name is SheShootsSheep . I can't come up with anymore aliases!
Oh my god, I know! I haven't blogged or knit much in the past 12 days, because I've just been reading about it, and raveling.
ReplyDeleteI so relate to your feeling there, and the whole thing leaves me in such a dilemma. Why oh why can't I ever do it all :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the book being done - I'm playing the catch-up game now.
WELL.. I'm getting closer to the front of the line.
ReplyDeleteI've read that it's been suggested to start taking photos of your stash, projects/etc..
HOWEVER, I really don't think I want the world to know how much yarn I have. Ok, I just don't want them pointing fingers at me and laughing.
Speaking of starting a blog.. I just did.. less than a week ago.. *I finally caved and am now part of the masses.. (well, I have a tendon injury in my hand and can't knit for awhile)
check it out if you want.. and can pry yourself away from ravelry. :D

I feel ya.
ReplyDeleteYou could always knit while reading blogs. How do you think I made all those socks over the summer. *L*
It's a total time-sucker, and I'm SO into it! Which may not be a good thing! I volunteered to be an editor for some of my favorite stuff but have little idea what to do. I keep looking for pics of my old FO's to add to my projects. So far I've only added 1 stash photo, but I have thought about going there! Two of my FO's have been "favorited," and I keep checking to see if more have been added. I've added 2 patterns and they're using my projects as the main photo for them. I feel so "important." How sad is that? :-) Do I actually have a life outside Ravelry? (And I've only been on it for like 2 weeks!)
ReplyDeleteMy Ravelry name is blessedknitter, and I am an Addict...
I am the Queen of lurking around in knitting subculture groups that I don't belong in. The Queen, I tell ya. I don't have a blog and I know no one - NO ONE - in the real world who knits. So, I spend all my free time at work surfing a long list of knitting blogs - yours included. I don't even usually leave a comment. How rude of me!
ReplyDeleteIncidentally, I LOVE your blog.
My knitting just went deeper into the skupper when the Ravelry invite came. It was pretty tippy anyway but that sent it to the bottom of the knitting bog.
